my computer has windows xp, and i have 2 accounts on it, my boyfriend went on one account and put the little icon "my computer" on my desktop for a shortcut, why did he do that?

He's probably just used to it being there... it was there for all the older versions of Windows. It doesn't do anything different then pressing "start" and then "my computer" would... it's just a short cut to that menu.

because in windows XP, unless you indicate that you want the My Computer icon on your desktop, it only lives in your start menu. from My Computer, you would access the various drives and removable media.

Maybe because he knows you would freak out at something insignificant like that and immediately go straight to Yahoo Answers and post a question only to find that you are insane?

so you can access it quicker instead of using the start button..

you can allways just say "hey, why'd you do that?"
