A lot of people ask questions about what do you think such and such Bible quote means. But then they don't put what is in that Bible quote. Do all of these people that are able to answer the question have a Bible close at hand for reference? Or do they have the quotes memorized?

A little of both. I use mostly the internet (articles and online bibles) along with my memory.

I am guessing alot of people have an online Bible, so they can cut and paste huge and unnecessary chunks of text onto answers! Guys: a couple of relevant lines to illustrate a point is fine. It's not like you need to put down the entire book in your answers!
Seriously, I think people probably do it deliberately so as to exclude people who they feel just want to make cheap shots (and who probably won't be bothered to look up the quote).

If you are a good Bible student, you shouldn't have to look up all the scriptures all the time, they should be committed to memory. However, since Christians are to give an answer for the hope that lies within us, we must be able to produce the scriptures to prove what we believe and if that means keeping the Bible by the computer, then so be it.

Well, I've been a student of the manuscripts for about 35 years now, so I just know alot of the stuff; but, I also have a bad memory problem at times, so i do have a Strongs Concordance, just in case I don't remember the paragraph something is in.
Some people just have a few basic verses memorized, and you see them posting them over and over again. Thats kind of boring.

There are websites that have the entire contents of the Bible available for anyone to read and/or retrieve passages as well as indexes to look up specific passages.

I have both. For short quotes I use my Bible, and for longer *gasp* copy/paste info (only if it's warranted) I use an online Bible or wiki.

No and Yes. You see we are led by the Holy Spirit. We do not always know what to say but God promised us and proofed it many times that He will put the words in our mouths. God Bless
