Yeah they do! I've had mine for about a month. I have the metal and clear brackets. The metal hurt more than the clear. Both irritates the inside of your mouth. The irritation lasts close to a week. The wires don't cause the pain. It's those tiny ties/rubber bands that hurt. (either comes clear or colored). After your braces are on, it hurts to bite down on certain foods. You'll need to eat soft foods for about a week. It took me close to two weeks before I could eat chicken. My first week was rough. Some of my teeth felt numb and the others just hurt. Tylenol didn't help much except when I needed to sleep. I used alot of orajel on my gums. I was told it would get better in the months to come. I sure hope so.

Your teeth will ache so use ibuprofen or naproxen in prescription strength doses. Ask the orthodontist how much to take BEFORE you leave his office.

they only hurt at first and when they are tightened. just eat cold foods and take some aspirin. It feels wierd at first but it gets better. Oh and soft foods, because they'll be tender.

braces will ache for about a week. i would go w/ oragel, advil, and ice cream/pudding/milkshake/malts/smoothies until it stops hurting.

They do hurt when you have them tighten.
Also can rub you cheeks.
Best to take what you would take for a head ache.
