Been in a relationship for 5 1/2 years, living with them for all that time. Now its over & I need to move on, but what's the best thing to do - go for the piece & quiet (& potential lonliness) of living alone or take the risk of moving in with a bunch of strangers?

I would go it alone - there are too many variables to deal with when having roommates. But that's me, though - I'm somewhat of a perfectionist when it comes to housework and cleaning, and my pet peeve is people who don't clean up after themselves.
Besides, I did my time living in a sorority house...don't get me wrong, I LOVE my sisters and wouldn't trade them for anything, but the house itself - ugh! It drove me nuts. Oh yeah, and we mustn't forget the drama that comes along with it. There are always a few in every crowd, and gawd forbid you get stuck in a shared house with a drama queen/king.
As for the potential loneliness of living alone? To solve that you just go out, simple. When sharing a house with someone you can't just make everyone leave if you feel like a little peace and quiet. Not to mention you may be at that point in your life where you need time for you, and that's hard to do with other people in and out all the time.
No matter what your choice, I wish you the best of luck! :)

Get your own place ALONE, if you can afford it!You can have friends stay if you feel lonely. You need your own space. With a bunch of strangers, you'll have to make friends and be nice which is not always easy, as you are bound to be sad at times. You don't want to have to worry about over people feelings as well! Plus once you want to start dating again it's handy to live alone!

A studio flat.
What you do is up to you and you don't have to work around the others schedule. Also, as you put your life back together you can have friends come and visit with out any conflicts. Have friends from work or from a club come and visit you, so you won't be completely alone.
The STUDIO FLAT IS THE BEST!
Good Luck

I've found from experience that you would enjoy the time to yourself. It was nice for me after a long, shitty relationship to be completely by myself. You'd be surprised how happy you are. Also, when you get lonely - call a couple people to come over. Think of how fun it will be to make your house 100% the way you want it.

Sometimes peace and quiet can be justifiable. It may sound like your setting yourself up for loneliness, but hey it's your little quiet place in the world. Go ahead and get you a nice Bachelorette Pad. Thats what men do, why can't we. Sounds like you need some you time anyway.Take care!!

After 6 years with you he subsidized out of marriage blaming it on your infant's "habit"? Has this infant of yours no longer been around for those 6 years? Is he marrying you or your infant? the guy truthfully has some matters. feels like he ought to no longer be satisfied in the relationship, yet does not prefer to interrupt it off extremely yet, so he's "testing the waters" someplace else, with the objective to speak. i do no longer know approximately you - i'd initiate thinking of thrashing him to the punch.
