tupperware containers, do they harass you to bring them back?

By tupperware containers, I am referring to the very flimsy ones that you buy in a bunch at the grocery store.

If so, how long do they usually wait before they start harassing you to bring them back?

Would you just go out and buy a pack of new ones if continued to harass you?

Tupperware is one thing. It 's expensive and should be returned. Best for everyone that sends food home with others is to keep a supply of Glad or Ziploc containers around and don't expect them back

first of all, Tupperware would NOT be the flimsy ones you get @ the store, they're only sold through dealers or catalog, several options, don't give out extra food, or don't worry about flimsy ones anyway, they should be throw out or recylced, sounds like obsession or a control problem, like a bird, set it free, it will end up in a thrift store or garage sale so the Working Poor can use them & then they can Worry about them, much to your delight, you may find an old one that you'd be looking for!!! Oprah changed from the nice Tupperware & started giving out Glad ones, she didn't stress about it anymore, so don't stress over old flimsy ones

The story would be different if they had left the containers at your house and never came to get them. In this case it sounds like they sent you home with leftovers with the understanding that you would return the containers- you need to return them.

If they are still in-use or if you've thrown them just go buy them some new ones- they are cheap, but obviously your family wants them back.

If it is actual Tupperware, I would think they would start to harass you soon. People are very attached to their Tupperware. Apparently someone said once, "Don't lend out your husband but especially your Tupperware."...lol.

If it is just the cheap stuff from a store, I, personally, would just replace it. I would just consider it as part of the take home and that it belongs to you now.

While saying thank you for the leftovers, you could say "I'll return the containers as soon as I can", and see what your family members reply.
You'll get an idea of what is expected of you.
Alternatively, exchange the courtesy when you get the chance, and use the same containers.

I'd start by refusing to accept leftovers from anyone, no matter how good they think it will be rewarmed up the next day. Then I'd buy a couple dozen news ones and give them to the person harassing you and see if that shuts them up.

I can see if they were the heavy duty ones... but the flimsy ones that you are talking about shouldn't have to be returned!! If they start bugging you, just buy a pack and give that to them...my goodness!!

My mother in law always makes soups and sends them to us in those reusable or throw away containers. She usually wants them back so she can send some more. I don't think it is a hassle. I understand because it is an ongoing thing and she doesn't want to have to go and keep buying them again and again. If it is just a one time thing, then no, I don't think you need to return them. I think it depends on the situation and who it is.
You could just return the favor and send them something delicious you made back in one for them to keep. :)
