i use a hair color brush {looks like a wide paint brush} which are available @ beauty supply stores... hehe, and i try to not do it myself.. i get my husband to do it, since he can see the top of my head etc...

If you have long or thick hair you may need to buy 2 boxes of color. Sometimes the problem is that you just don't have enough dye to all of the hair. If you're dying it yourself always have someone check over it to make sure you got all of the spots.

You need to section the hair very careful. The thinner the sections, the less likely you are to miss a spot. Also, I like to section the hair on a diagonal, that way it doesnt get in the face.

I try to put mirrors all around me and use the bottle versus the brush to apply the color. I part my hair and apply the color and then rob it to each side with my fingertips.

Its all about sectioning the hair. You need to apply it to every 1/4" or less.
