Hmm. Oddly enough, I'm kinda watching this happen now in my own life. My mom was a runway and print model for about 25 years. She was always absolutely gorgeous and people just kinda fell at her feet. She was still a beautiful woman, long after she gave up modeling and moved out of NYC. Now, she's about 57 and her looks have faded quite a bit. She's still thin and classy, but she just doesn't have the glow of youth anymore. I saw her a few weeks ago and I was the first time in my life that people didn't rush to help her out of the car or hold doors for her or automatically give her whatever she asked for. It was sad to see and I can't imagine how it must make her feel, to suddenly be invisible after a lifetime of being the most beautiful girl in the room...
I've noticed that she doesn't go out nearly as much as she used to, and that when she does, she wears outfits that are a bit scandalous. Maybe trying to get that attention that she misses so much. I just feel bad for her. I mean, sure, she had advantages because of her looks that lots of women will never have. But the higher the summit, the harder the fall. I wish that she'd taken some time to work on her mind and her self confidence, instead of always working on her figure. Maybe if she had, this would be an exciting new chapter in her life, instead of the twilight of her existence.

No, most of them know that the day will come when the looks will be gone. They save their money and go into a different line of work. I know a former model who is now the VP of a big corporation. The brain is more important than looks in the long run.

If they are successful, then they will have time to keep their good looks, have a couple kids and enjoy the rest of their lives out of the limelight. And as for the 2nd part of your question, I'm sure they will get plenty attention wherever they decide to go.

They (Janice Dickinson) just open up their own modeling schools, put them on reality shows, and continue being their bitchy selves. Or, they (Tyra Banks) start hosting daytime talk shows. I suppose that would be attention withdrawal.

They start to lose value in society. This makes them feel useless, as it does with any older person today. Society only values youth and beauty. They feel unwanted, so they get depressed and let themselves go. They probably get fat and wrinkly.

When models retire, they gain a lot of weight...(Tyra Banks, Anna-Nicole Smith, Kirsty Allen<--whatever her name is)...then they either work as a talk show host or work for diet companies...
