ive had gastritis for several months, it was a lot better but i quit taking my omeprazole and now its gotten bad again in the last week or two, i was wondering if anybody knows if PPIs cause rebound acidity and its temporarily worse or if i need to see the doc. none of my books said anything about a rebound effect and none of the pharmacist i work with have heard of acid being a lot worse after you stop so im guessing there isnt and my gastritis is back

actually rebound acidity is a bad way to put it; its supposed to cause gastric lining atrophy which would make the stomach more sensitve to acid, i should say is that why my i have a hot and full feeling in my abdomen or is that the gatritis again

I've never heard of this either. Nothing I looked at says Prilosec increases acidity or has a rebound effect. More than likely your gastritis came back.
