The best place in the downtown area is called Hiro sushi. Its on the south side of King street just east of Jarvis. I believe he's still the only sushi chef in the city to get fresh fish every day.

yes, definitely Hiro, on King. We travel to Japan regularly, and my husnband and I can honestly say that Hiro is among the best sushi we have had ANYWHERE, Japan included. It is a bit spartan, but totally amazing.
