Integrated circuits play important roles in Information transmission. To analyse, filter, modulating and demodulating techniques are made easy by the use of ICs.The network becomes more simple using ICs.

In principle you do not need integrated circuits to transmit information. Integrated circuit (as the name says) is the black box of functionally lumped together circuits where the manufacturer guarantees that this complex function will be performed according to the specification. By this token your transmission function can be implemented by off-the-shelf integrated circuit without you to worry about implementation (manufacturer did it for you). Which circuits will you use depends upon which kind of transmission you are talking about. Transmission of information usually represent a chain of signal processing boxes that implement various algorithms depending on the function. Nowadays information processing is usually digital and you can find integrated circuit for any processing algorithm you can imagine. Final stages before you send your signal to the antenna are usually analog and, since they work with high power, are not integrated. Hope this discussion helped you a bit.
