Early Christian attitudes?: (Written by non-Christian historians before the New Testament was written)
1. If you hurt me, I will forgive you.
2. If I have hurt you, I am sorry.
3. If I am nice to you, I will go to Heaven.
I posted these three precepts in an earlier post, and;
Some Christian lady wrote me and screamed at me saying, "Nice people don't go to Heaven, only Christians go to Heaven".
How do the above 3 guidelines relate to you belief system? Are you saved because you believe in Jesus' teachings. Did he teach you to be a nice person? If you are not saved because of his teachings, then how can you say you believe in him? It seems if you believe in someone, you will believe what he tells you ?
If someone said to you, "I am the way to Heaven", would you not ask that person for instructions. Jesus gave us about 100 instructions of how to live our lives and go to Heaven. Do you believe in him? Have you read his instructions.

Jesus said we must be born again by the spirit. I feel that if you are born again into the spirit of forgiving others for their mistakes, you justice system and your personality will change and you will be a nice person. Justice system? When we are first born into this world we seem to feel that we have a right to hold a grudge against someone who has hurt us; that is our justice system. When we are really born again in the spirit of Jesus, our justice system changes and we accept that we longer have a right to hold a grudge or seek revenge.

(PS: Please don't misunderstand me. These early Christians had heard Jesus' sermons and preachings and teachings; they believed in Jesus as their messiah (savior). According to Josephus and Roman historians, these "Christ Followers", these Christians said #3, said these words just before they were killed. (They had already been judged for not denying Jesus as their savior. I think they may have had Jesus' last few words on their minds, "forgive them, for they know not what they do", and maybe these early Christians wanted to follow Jesus into heaven by saying their words they felt were equivalent to Jesus' words before he went to Heaven. of course, I am just guessing why they would say such a thing in #3 above)

Why do we tend to believe Paul and Peter and Church doctrine more than we believe the words of Jesus? We have about 100 verses from Jesus himself, why do we need other people telling us what they think that Jesus said?

Satan believes that Jesus is the Son of God, Satan believes that Jesus came into the world to save us. Does that mean Satan is a Christian?
Satan, however, does not follow the advice and instructions from Jesus. That is why "to believe in Jesus" means to believe his instructions and to follow his instructions. -

You miss one important detail: we are saved by grace and not by works (ie being nice) as a gift of God so that no man may boast.
Yes, we must demonstrate we are His; by our works. But no one, no not even one was saved by works. We are saved NOT by Jesus' teaching, but by his work on the cross for our benefit; to pay our ransom. It was an act of the highest love. Believe and recieve....and continue to be a nice person that will be a bonus

My idea equipment is depending on the Bible - in its entirety. From a Christian attitude, the position can we study heaven? From the Bible. hence, we may be able to look upon the Bible because the touchstone of Christianity. Does the Bible prepare that there are criteria to be met with the intention to bypass to heaven? certain. Are those criteria constrained to being impressive? No. ought to at least one be a Christian? certain. what's a Christian? A Christian is a follower of Christ. What did Christ say about gaining heavenly existence? quite lots. fairly, the criteria for achieving to heavenly existence are found in God's note the Bible, an similar writings to which Christ deferred time and time again. and those criteria contain a lot more beneficial than the conventional individual meets. through the way, i do no longer meet the criteria for heavenly existence. My eternal existence, if I an judged worth, will be spent in a restored paradise on earth. Hannah J Paul

No matter how nice of a person you are, if your not doing God's will you won't enter into his kindom. the only people that goes into heaven are (One hundred and forty-four thousand).
(Revelation 7:4)...And I heard the number of those who were sealed, a hundred and forty-four thousand, sealed out of every tribe of the sons of Israel.
There are twelve tribes of Israel and only 12 from each tribe will enter into heaven, (12 times12 = 144).
(Revelation 14:1)...And I saw, and, look! the Lamb (Jesus) standing upon the Mount Zion, (heavenly Jeerusalem) and with him a hundred and forty-four thousand having his name and the name of his Father (Jehovah) written on their forheads.
These are the only humans that will enter into heaven, Jesus called them his (littleflock) in (Luke 12:32).
The meek ones
(Psalms 37:11)
But the meek ones themselves will possess the (Earth).
(Pslams 37:9)
For evildoers themselves will be cut off, But those hoping in Jehovah are the ones that will possess the (earth).
In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus made a promise to the meek ones, those who's listening to his words.
(Matthew 5:5)"Blesssed are the meek, for they shall inherit the (Earth).
Jesus never mention the meek ones going into (Heaven), but the(one hundred and forty-four thousand)
they will be along side him in (heaven) those are the one that was not found with any fault even though they were sinners,
(John 14:1,2)
Do not let your hearts be troubled. Excercise faith in God, exercise faith also in me. In the house of my Father there are many abodes. Other wise, I would have told you, because I am going to prepare a place for you.
Hope that this can help.

If the blood is not applied, there is no way to enter into God's Kingdom. Jesus is the only Way, Truth, and Life. Once a person begins to serve and follow Jesus, compassion, love, and kindness will become a part of who we are. I am sorry that some of you out there have been mistreated by people professing to be Christians, but some will come in His name and not be of Him. Some Christians have trouble with kindness and patience, but if they follow the Lord and seek Him with all of their heart and soul, He will help them to overcome the sins of the flesh. But each man will have to answer to Him on his own, including all of you. When you face Him, there will be no one to blame for your sins and disbelief but yourselves. What are you going to do then?

well lets say for sake that yes they do go to heaven. but if you really check this out and listen abit you will see that heaven i believe is a state of mine or where we feel the most comforatble until God comes at the end of the world and takes us with him. notice i am not saying up or down. because we all have this in our head heaven is up but i feel that is not true. i think its where like a 5th demention. yep, its confusing but there is probably a place right here where we are that they are also existing but we can not see them and they can see us which could be cause of the soul that is there not the body.

"For by grace ye saved through faith, and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast."
(Ephesians 2 :8-9)
"For God so loved the world, that he gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life."
(John 3:16)
You can't be saved by works -only accepting God's gift (Eph. 2:8-9) and God's gift is Salvation thru the death of His Son (John 3:16) and all you have to believe in Jesus and accept Him as your Savior and you'll go to Heaven. Ask Him to forgive you of your sins. He will. He wants you with Him in Heaven.
This is a simple set of instructions on how to save your life.
Have you read these ? If not, please do and please follow them today.

I am answering from a Calvinistic perspective, which is not necessarily in sync with other Christians, so please keep that in mind.
I am of the position that it is only God who descides who goes to Heaven. The work of Salvation is completely His. There is nothing you can do to add or subtract from that. Those that are called to God will follow Jesus and will have Jesus perfect righteousness imputed to them. Those that do not accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior will have to rely on their own good deeds to earn themselves a place. Since no person is 100% perfect, as required by God to enter Heaven, those that rely on themselves alone will not meet the standard.
That having been said, we respond to God's grace in our lives by acting in the manner your non-Christian commentators mentioned. It is called "saved by grace onto good works". The good works do not in and of themselves earn you a berth in Heaven, but are a natural outflowing of God's love from within you.

Yes, this whole idea by Christians of who is allowed into heaven and who will be sent to hell was not thought out very well. That may be why the Mormons came up with the idea of levels of heaven (similar to Dante's circles of hell). That way they can allow all nice people into heaven, but assign you to a different level depending on how nice or how Mormon you were.

Qualifying to go to Heaven is an continuing process. We must continually be on our guard against the evils of this world. We have free will but we are not free from the consequences of our choices.
He that fails to forgive burns the bridge over which he eventually must cross.
The character of a man is not determined by what he does when everyone is looking but what he does when no one is looking.

In John 3-16 it clearly states that who so ever believes in him(Jesus) shall have eternal life...otherwise what would have been the point of him dying on the cross? Even in the old Testament Jews had to burn blood sacrifices for atonement for their sins.
