If it is a popular venue and you are for sure that you want your event there, go ahead and check the availability with the facility coordinator. Ask them when do they suggest that you book your date.

You probably will need to book it now!

I'd say sooner rather than later. Also depends on the popularity of the venue. If the ceremony is in a good hotel many weekend dates may be already away.

Depends on popularity of the place and the date you are thinking of. School summer holidays get booked up quickly as teachers want to get married then to get a decent honeymoon! My sister booked 2 years in advance and had to have a Friday in August as all Saturdays had gone. If you have your heart set on somewhere get it booked up sooner rather than later.

You should start looking and booking now. Reception halls get booked up fast, especially popular locations and dates. Some venues are actually booked up to two years in advance.

you can only give a maximum of one years notice to a registrar (the person who performs the ceremony)

I would check that you can get the registrar on the date you want before booking the venue, it won't be a wedding if you don't get married first!!

that's what we did, registrar first then straight to the venue

unless they will let you provisionally book till you find out from the registrar

Six months to one year, depending on where you want to hold your activites. Most places book as much as a year in advance. There are all sorts of wedding planning books at the library.

Hope that helped. Good luck!

If you are getting married next year i would start thinking about booking up now. Busy times are summer and spring.

Usually lead time is about a year...if it's VERY popular try a minimum of a year and a half....I am a professional event planner and brides that wait scramble to find anything they can and are usually not happy with what they end up with

My sister booked hers two years ago, you need to go to the venue and speak with their wedding planner..

I didn't realize there was a civil venue that would do your reception. But if by 'civil' you mean the court house or JP, I think you need only show up with your marriage license.
