If you didn't get his papers and can't find the people you bought him from, you're pretty much SOL.

1) if this odg was AKC reg. People can NOT charge extra for papers...if this was the case they need to be reported to AKC.

2) unless you know the dogs registered name/ registration number, registered names/numbers of parents or actually have the dogs registration paper then their is no way to find out his pedigree.

3) vets do NOT know pedigrees, aren't expereinced with all various breeds of dogs and can NOT do ANY tests to see if a dog is purebred, registered or any such thing....and DNA test can NOT tell if a dog is purebred or what breed they are!!!!!!!!!!!

4) You can NOT show a dog in conformation without his registration paper and you can only show in performance events with a proper AKC/UKC/CKC (Canadian Kennel Club) registration or ILP #

5) AKC/UKC/CKC (Canadian Kennel Club) can NOT help you get registration or with pedigree on your dog without litter #, individual reg. #, parents reg. name #.

If you received the puppy for free or at a reduced price the puppy is for pet quality only you would not be able to register him. Most cases you would receive a paper from the breeder when you pick up your pet. On that form is the litter reg. # and your pets information for you to be able to register him if you didn't receive that the breeder did not want you to register that pet, they have every right to say what animals they want to paper and not to paper.

At this point, there's not much y ou can do. You have provided detailes about how he looks, but what breed is it? If you want to register him, you can take him to confirmation shows and if he meets breed standards, then they can register him without his papers. As far as pedigree goes though, you can't find that out without locating the breeder.

The only way is to get them from the people who had him before.

very hard to tell without a picture!

if you really want to tell, a vet can do tests to find out. probably won't be free though!

I don't understand why this would matter. Are you planning on showing your dog????? If you love your dog it really shouldn't matter.
