Why do I feel a shock when I touch the metal cabinet of my VCR?

Sounds like there is voltage potential between the chassis and ground. Try flipping the AC plug upside down, if it plugs in more than one way. If this isn't possible, you should test to make sure your outlets are wired correctly and not reverse polarity.

I assume the VCR is on when you feel the shock? Sounds like the wiring inside gone bananas if you ask me. I recommend you take it to the store and find out what's going on.
