I'm addressing my RSVP envelopes for my wedding, they will not be hand written, I'm printing them off of my computer... does it matter if the address is centered or left aligned? If so, why?

My invitations were left aligned (of course located on the front center of the envelope).
It's a matter of personal taste, but it just seemed neater to me. I also noticed at the printer's that the recipient's addresses in most of the examples were left aligned. Our return address was printed on the back flap, and the only thing that was centered.
You can do it any way that you want to, though, left aligned, centered or staggered. I have even seen invitations that have the recipient's name (top line) in a half circled arch above the address. That isn't recommended if you are using labels, though - only if a calligrapher or printer is doing it.
No matter what you choose, make sure that it suits you and is what makes you happiest, it is your day, and you should have everything just like you want it. Congratulations!!!

Give me a second and I will edit and add a link so you can have a visual example. :)
Here you go...take care!

One way is no more correct than the other it's just a matter of what you think looks best.
Personally I think aligning it to the left looks more business like and centered looks more personal (think about how you would write it) Just print out a sample of each and see which one you think looks best. There is no right or wrong

It doesn't actually matter, but I think left-aligned.

There is no ettiquette on this, because the envelopes aren't supposed to be printed on a computer. Just try to use a font that looks handwritten. I say left-aligned because when you handwrite an envelope, you tend to line it all up on the left. It's also easier for the mailperson to read that way.

Use a text box to put the address in. If you do use a text box, you can left align the text. If you are using WordArt, the text will automatically be centered.

For the recipient address, left align the text.

Hope this helps!

center allignment is good, it make some person to feel important. in some cases they put a space for the person you are sending it to at the center of the envelope in order to make the design look unique and attracting

I centered the recipient address and left aligned the return address. It is traditional and looks classy.

Address them as you would any other envelope. The name and address of the person (this case you) in the middle/center.

Technically, the correct way is left align, however, I think centered looks better.
