I think Jeremy Mayfield is the biggest disappointment from Speedweeks. He has been a good driver (chase racer in 2004 and 2005) when his equipment stood up and he had good team chemistry. He practiced good (20th in the 1st, 4th in the 2nd, 40th in the 3rd and 32nd in the 4th practice sessions) and was on the bubble going into the duels. He got caught up in the crash, not his fault at all, in the first duel but did a hell of a job to minimize the damage. He would have made it in based on his Sunday qualifying time if Sterling Marlin hadn't tanked at the end of the 2nd duel to let Mike Wallace pass him at the very end. With all that happened at the end of last year at Evernham he was really looking forward to starting off on a good foot this year. Ward was awful pissed as well when he got knocked out at the end of his duel. I think Jeremy is the best driver, with Vickers a close 2nd, to not make it and probably the most pissed because of the way it played out.

Hmmm interesting answers.
#1. Waltrip's extreme cheating with the fuel. That's a team I never suspected to do anything like that. And if you know anything about racing and running other fuels n such, I'll tell you this much, If you think Michael didn't know, 99% chance you are wrong. They got desparate, he had to have known, its something not easily unnoticed for obvious reasons. Those fuels have an odor and are easily detected, which is exactly how he got caught.
#2.Evernham and Rousch drivers being pentalized for something that is NOT in the rule books as being illegal.
As for the Jeff Gordon, unintentional or not, rules are rules, if they are broke, NASCAR has to hand out pentalties, that simple. His issue WAS in the rule books as being illegal, so can't really complain about it, things like that happen sometimes, gotta keep an eye on the car.
And I wanted the 72 year old man to get in, he was doing really well in the Duels, but oh well, maybe next year.

There is only one answer - Toyota.
I like Vickers and he is missed over at HMS Hendrick Motor Sports (a very big mistake). He will be winning some more races next year.

I think that Mark Martin is driving the 01 car instead of Joe Nemechek. Joe did so much to support the troops.

I am not a Jeff Gordon fan, but what NASCAR did was wrong. Why was this not picked up in pre-inspection? They know it was unintentional and there is no penalties or fine. Yeah right, making him start 42nd is both.
