Yes, if you think about it to much you will make yourself sick.Don't even think about the food they prepare was fertilized by human waste and sprayed with chemicals that are banned in USA, but not foreign country's we import from.Reminds me of old joke about fat lady cook at diner.Guy sits down orders hamburger. The cook gets meat patty from freezer and places under her arm pit.Guy says what you doing and she says defrosting the patty.Guy sitting next to him tells the cook to cancel his hot dog order.

I agree completely and everyone treats me like I am wrong for caring. I have worked in restaurants for years and I have to say that I hold management responsible for not caring, they are supposed to monitor and enforce these things not discourage them, I know some restaurants that have food handlers doing filthy tasks that someone who is involved with food preparation or delivery should not be doing, unfortunately most people don't care unless it makes them sick, these things won't change as long as it is ok with the customers and management, someone needs to be in charge and they need to care but that doesn't seem to be possible in this world where noone has any reason to take pride in their work, since their is no chance for advancement, or benefits, and there is no job security, and it is this way across the board, being a dissatisfied customer means nothing to business owners, they just don't care. I don't get it and I have no idea how to change it . I have thrown away untouched food more than a few times due to being grossed out by food handlers.

I would report them to environmental health. There is no excuse for handling food without gloves on. I work in a kitchen and I would be sacked if I was caught handling food! Either gloves or tongs should be used. It's basic hygiene!

I use to do this type of work. When we were busy management would have me go from preparing food to the register and back and forth. I would constantly have to wash my hands multiple times. It became frustrating running back and forth. I didn't understand why management just didn't hire another person. I must admit although I'm somewhat of a habitual hand-washer there were times where I was just stressed and didn't wash my hand or used a hand without a glove.

I went to a whole foods market one time and was going to buy their rotisserie chicken. Operative word ... WAS!
It wasn't the server, but one of the cleaning/stock crew had a horrible cold, and basically just wiped his snot on his sleeve. With out stopping to wash his hands, He proceeded to stack the plastic containers for the food. When it was my turn, I asked the server to get a container from a new stack, and he REFUSED!
Hey - I'm the customer! If I asked for a new container give me a new container! I asked to speak to the manager, and explained the whole situation. The manager was cordial to me and gave me the chicken in a new container. (He open a new package of containers in front of me.) What they didn't do was remove the other containers the stock person had stacked.
I gave the chicken back, and never went back to that market.

They need to be reported to the health department. After a phone call, follow up with a fax or letter telling them exactly what was observed. Also the franchise or restaurant manager needs to be confronted after the first complaint is made. Not everyone may have noticed this unsanitary behavior so would not be aware, but you and I have.

Theyre always sweaty from cookin the food. Once, I went to some McDonald's somewhere out west in the nowhere and none of them were wearing hair nets besides one guy in the back. I hope none of their sweat or dirt never gets into my food.

Very true. Oh, well. Look at the bright side--it's like getting a booster immunization every time you eat there. Just a little dose of "yuck" on a regular basis keeps us from clocking out on the rare occasions that we get a big dose of "yuck". Bon appetit!

Yes, I notice it all the time. I don't know how they get away with it. I have my serv safe certificate and have done inservices on HACCP. Just don't visit those places. Better yet bring it to the attention of the manager.
