For those who try to prove the Bible as wrong by stating that Cain couldn't have gotten his wife because he and Abel were the only children of Adam and Eve. I'll make this easy...
1. Adam and Eve initially had 2 sons: Cain and Abel
2.Abel sacrificed the best of what he had while Cain just gave 'whatever'. God wants 100% of us. when we give less, we leave an opening for Satan to attack. (which is what he told Cain)
3.Cain didn't listen, and became jealous of Abel to the point he killed him.
4.Cain lied to God, which portrays characteristics of Satan (reference how Satan used the serpent to lie to Eve in the previous chapter).
5.Since Cain chose to lie, God cursed him to wonder the earth aimlessly.
6.Later, Adam and Eve had Seth (Abel's replacements). Many other children followed Seth (not to mention his own).
7.These children grew and moved around. one city built was Nod.
8.Many years later, Cain came across Nod, where he found his wife.
To be continued

Genesis:
4:4 But Abel brought some of the firstborn of his flock – even the fattest of them. And the Lord was pleased with Abel and his offering, 4:5 but with Cain and his offering he was not pleased.
The 'firstborn' and 'fattest' were Abel's best. You don't see anything showing Cain giving the same.

Regarding God's law about inbreeding in Leviticus...*Remember what happened previously.
1.The world became full of evil men - save one. Noah, who was a decendant of Seth.
2.The flood came and Noah (& family & animals) was spared.
3.God told Noah to be fruitful and multiply.
4.The multiplying began.
5.The population & spreading was sufficient so God put an end to the need for incest. Hince, the law against it.
3 sons starting 3 tribes. Incest was allowed to get the population started. It wasn't needed once that part of 'multiplying' was complete.

*****My note on the comment on Gen.3:15... God had just punished the serpent directly in the 14 verse. Verse 15 was his comment directly to Satan. "I will put emnity (hostility) b/w you (satan) and the women, and between your followers (those who follow satan) and her offspring (her line, that leads to Christ)..."

Ok guys as far as being inbred, you need to understand that back then the DNA was totally different from how it is today so that made it alright for them to marry sisters and cousins... it's just how things worked back then. We don't understand a lot that happened at the beginning of this earth but that's no reason to question it. And for the person that said that the serpant was not the devil you may want to read your bible again.

Nice try, but didn't Cain give the best of what he had to God. Cain was a farmer and tried to sacrifice the best of his crop. Abel just followed God's word and provided a Lamb, that is meant to represent the fact that the sacrifice needed to take away sin is actually a Gift from God and not something that man can create with hard work. You have your Theology twisted backwards, but that is fine, you keep trying your little heart out to make it into heaven. My guess is that you are going to be supremely unhappy if you get there and find that your dirtbag neighbor made it by giving .001% of himself to God and then repenting before he died.
I am thinking that Cain may have had a hard time marrying his cousins considering he murdered their favorite uncle. It's not as if they wouldn't have known who he was.
Another interesting question for you: If there was no knowledge of good and evil, before Eve ate the forbidden fruit, why is all of mankind paying for her unknowing mistake? Babies are dying because Eve didn't know better?

Every culture has a theory about it's origin. My forefathers believed that God created man and woman and blessed them with nine daughters (representing the nine tribal clans) who grew up and married nine men from different cultures and thus the earth was filled. They did not question how the other people came to be but chose to believe whatever theories they gave as readily as they expected their own theory to be accepted. It makes logical sense to me. Though a confessed Christian (brought up that way) I'll be the first to admit that this part of the bible is not very well clarified and I think this is mainly due to the refusal to acknowledge that there were other civilizations with their own understanding of creation and a way of worshiping the creator. There is no monopoly and nobody can proof the other irrevocably wrong or right. Why seek from without answers that are arguable and heavily depend on an individuals understanding and acceptance from within? By all means; share your thoughts but do not declare them "iron Laws" unless you have proof otherwise you cause people to stumble and reject your theories at face value.

You are correct...except for one minor point. A careful reading of the original Hebrew text implies that both Cain and Abel were born with twin sisters. Either way, it clearly says, when recapping Adam's life, that he had many children, both male and female. The problem is that most people stop reading after Cain meets his wife not realizing that the Bible is not always presented in chronological order.

Still - sorry I am not trolling I am just following where you are leading.
1 Seth married one of his sisters
2 Cain either married his sister or one of his nieces
Therefore we are all massively inbred?
Just wondering because this does appear to be what you are saying and I thought it was against Gods law to lie with your sister or any close kin - Leviticus 18 vs 6 - 18?
Is this part of the original sin we can never be clean of?

That's very prettily done. Nothing like seriously researching a fairy tale. Most serious Biblical scholars accept that Genesis, until Abraham, is just that, a fairy tale with a lesson and a moral.
The Lesson: There is only ONE TRUE GOD and He made everything.
The Moral: Stay right with Him or get clobbered.

That's all fine and dandy but who was Cain afraid of when he was talking to God about the people who found him killing him. There were only 3 people on Earth at that time and 2 of them were his parents.
Your theory is good but mainworry's was slightly better.

So Cain was how old when he met his wife? And how old was his wife? How many generations was she removed from A&E? How big was this city, populated entirely by sons and daughters and cousins?

Your putting words in god's mouth,
when did he ever say to cain "... when you give less, you leave an opening for Satan to attack. " --- HELLO never
(EDIT: OK, he said sin not satan, but close enough:
god said, "...And if you do not do well, sin is couching at the door; its desire is for you, but you must master it." You were right, but I still stand firm about the snake thing, though).
