I also have perscription glasses fitted with prisms in them...
After having a tumour removed, the connection from the eye to the brain did not bring images together..hence the prisms inserted in the glasses lens......(in other words, if i focused on one item, it split itself into two with half the image being higher than the other)....long winded i know, hope you understand it anyway........dont forget, everyone is different and you may have the prisms in your lenses for another reason...ask your optomotrist.........(This will make you laugh tho..I paint canvas paintings and without the glasses, the paintings are very...unique)..haha...goood luck with your eyesight.

A prism is used to correct a mild condition known as strabismus
http://www.eyemdlink.com/Condition.asp?ConditionID=421
Which basically means that the images your two eyes are seeing are not quite matching up properly. Once they've done that, chances are your eyes will be much more comfortable.
I have astigmatism and severe myopia in both eyes, which I have noticed can make my eyes feel quite uncomfortable, even when I'm about to go to sleep. You must remember to take regular breaks from the PC or studying to avoid eye strain. You're probably just putting undue stress on the lens and muscles in the eye trying to compensate for the lack of correction in your current lenses.
However, if this problem persists or you continue to be worried, ask your GP or optician (who is not technically a medic) if you can see an opthalmologist (a doctor who specialises in eyes) who will be able to examine your eyes much more thoroughly and give you the reassurance you need.

Try eye relaxation technics as often as you can. Try putting slices of cool cucumber on your closed eyes and listen to relaxing music. Do not sit staring at the TV or computer screen too long without breaks. Insist that you are treated for this.
This will help.

it could be either that your spectacle prescription is too strong for you or that you are experience dry eye syndrome. Dry eye is common to many people.... as my experience as an Optometrist. You can try use lubricant (non-medicated eye drops) to help to relieve eye pain. Waking up in the morning with eye pain can also suggest dry eye. In this case you can use eye gel that is also not medicated, use eye gel at bedtime. However, bottom line is you should seek medical help regarding eye pain if lubricants/gel still don't help.

You need to see a medical doctor if you are experiencing pain or discomfort. A normal eye doctor (where you get your glasses exam) can not help you with this problem. See your regular physician.
