You hurt this girl and it sounds like she is worried you will hurt again.
There are more tactful ways of dealing with feelings like those and ending all contact is not it.
Talking about it would have been better, things may seem awkward for a while now, things have to be done her way for a while now if you want this friendship to work.
Her wounds need healing so be there when she is ready to let you back in again.
Things will take time but you are going to see her that is always a good sign.
Hope it all works out.
Good luck x

Girls are complicated- whether she had feelings for you or not you would have hurt her by saying you wanted to get over her etc so it depends how much you want her friendship.
If she's worth it then work at it, if she's not then put it down to experience, leave her be and try to be a little more tactful next time you're in the situation.
Hope it goes ok.

It's hard work maintaining a relationship that's complicated, and she may think that this is just another ploy for you to try and take things further. Just do as she asks, keep it civil. Don't ignore her, but keep it sweet and friendly and let her see that you aren't going to have any deep heart to hearts and that really you just wanna know how she's doing etc. Good luck mate!

You hurt her obviously. After you guys got very close, you just left. That doesn't do much for a woman's self esteem, lemme tell you. She would avoid seeing you obviously for how you handled the situation. If my close friend did that to me I wouldn't even talk to them either. There was a reason she got close to you, regardless of what she said.

Just be natural, don't get too intense on her, or like solicit her for serious-we-have-to-talk conversation. Stuff like this takes a lot of time and casual contact to right itself, so just be yourself, be friendly but not too friendly, and she'll get used to you as a friend again. Anything more intense and she'll just be weirded out.

you had a friendship and you tried to take it further...she did not want to...many friendships have gone down the tubes because of this
be yourself around her and see what happens...she just might not want your friendship anymore or might be afraid you still want more
if the friendship is lost then move on
good luck
be cool...
