You need to really think about placing your baby with a family member. It's not easy. That family member would have to go through a few legal background checks and be approved to adopt which takes a few months. They would also have to hire an adoption attorney.

It sounds good, but it can be very painful for the birthmother and confusing for the child. In most cases an open adoption with a couple the birthmom does not know is less painful. With open adoption, you can get updates and even have visits, but the child is not at every family event as a constant reminder to you.

Good luck in your decision!

I don't know much about adoption, but here are some websites I hope you will find helpful. To my understanding, you get to chose the family that would adopt the child. So really, you would just have decide which family member(s) would be adopting and then go through the process. I hope that helps. Best wishes and take care.

well theres alot of thigs you can do. if you want to put your baby up for an adoption you go to the family service deparment. also though you said you want to keep it in the family you ask a social worker to put the baby in a home close to were you live so you can visit it. but ut wooould be best if you keep it or it will cause problems in the long run

You don't. It's beyond painful, I know this from expirience. Give them up to a nice, loveing family. My cousin was adopted this way, he sees his parents every ther month. Keeping it in the family will only make you want your baby more and more and more. It's your choice, but it hurts.
