Walk away. Why?
1. He did this behind your back - no trust in your ability to accept this or he's cheating emothionally.
2. If you compete for his affection now, you might win - But it will happen over and over again.
3. You didn't try very hard in the relationship - there is probably a good reason for this.
4. Two parts of one person in love with two people - He's selfish!
Good Luck

Ok, first of all you guys need to talk. You never mention loving him. Do you? When he says he loves two people, is he including you? If so, ask him what does he love about you and what does he love about her. You have to understand that sometimes you get used to being with someone(he did spend 3 years with her) and more than love its just being accustomed to her company.
Talk to him and tell him how you feel, you guys have been together for a year so you guys have to have a good communication. If you dont love him, or feel something else for himbesides being competitive) then tell him and end this relationship. That way you are not hurting yourself(you deserve more than half of a relationship) and he gets a chance to see what and who he wants. I wish you the best.

It all depends because if he’s talking to his ex as if he wants to get back with her then you have two options one is either give up or two try harder to seduce him and romance him into falling completely in love with you. Now if he’s only talking to his ex as a friends then I would say its not too bad. Don’t be jealous just watch out. Talk to him and try and figure out what he wants. What is he looking for in you??? What is he looking for in her??? What does she have that you don’t and makes him still like her and think about her??? Then work on that. If you really like the guy then don’t give up, but if you only want to as to compete against her then forget him because in the long run you will get bored of him and leave him so why waste the time???

i was sort of in the same situation as your ex except that my bf: a) knew about me and me ex just being friends, b) my bf trusted me, c) i told my bf about my past relationship with my ex and a lot more. my advice: talk with the guy! what if he is just friends with his ex, is there something wrong with that? as for him texting behind your back maybe he knew that once you found out you would get all jealous, competetive and balistic and therefore he kept it to himself because no guy wants all the drama from his gf. i mean i have been awesome friends with my ex for almost 3 years and we text and talk on the phone and all that stuff but my bf does not go crazy on him or me going crazy on him chatting with ex's. you do not trust the guy which is a major problem and therefore you should just sit face to face with him like adults and converse about what is going on and how what he is doing is bothering you. he will never know if you never tell him! do i think that they are more than friends, nah!

You can take a horse to water , but you cannot make him drink.
Your ego is bruised , that's about all I can say for you . Looks like you have not 'YET' met Mr.Right.
Start anew and make up your mind that there is definitely the one out there for you. All you have to do is make an effort to get back in circulation and recognize it when it happens .
The honeymoon is over with this one , even before it happened .
Buy a new outfit and re-invent yourself. With a new look come new ideas .
Get busy .

Firstly, I don't see texting an ex is a problem in itself. I talk to ex's, my girlfriend talks to hers. If it is only as friends it's fine.
However, the fact that he still has feelings for his ex are more of a problem. If I were you I'd make it clear that if he wants to keep you he must stop talking to his ex so his feelings for her die. Either that or end it before you get hurt.

You don't just walk away. Texting someone is not the end of the world. What you do is grow up and get over it.
