What does nickel-plated brass accomplish that other metal materials don't?

-as NP brass does not rust or de-grade due to calcium or other minerals found in water, eg iron, clourine etc. and Im sure there are more reasons like its nice and shiny....looks exspensive..

nickel-plated brass is cheap, durable, and doesn't corrode.
