Voltage regulation is the main criteria in certain applications.
It could be achieved by different technologies.
In electric circuits, powerfactor is an important factor. We should correct the powerfactor for different load conditions. To convey maximum power to the load centres, the powerfactor improvement is made by using synchronous motors and capacitor banks.
In the case of electronic circuits, voltage regulation in simple circuits can be achieved by using Zener diodes and different filter circuits.

constant voltage regulation, a few methods are used to achieve this, most commonly used are capacitors [again depends on where you are in this world]to buffer the unstable incoming supply , or inversely to boost the supply voltage to the desired volts, to insure a steady flow of power. obviously a lot more complicated, but I hope it gives you a over all view of Voltage Regulation.

Irrespective of the load i.e the amount of current consumption,
the voltage stays the same...
The device called Stabiliser does the same..
