Why do you want a substitute...are you allergic?
KY is good because it is water based, non allergenic and not detrimental to condoms like any oil based lubrication is.
I wouldnt start using stuff you find around the house, its not really designed for sex and you might find it does more harm than good.
Spit is a free standby although doesnt last for long.
I need to know why you dont want to use KY?

The generic brand of KY jelly and natural lubricants too (but risky. in the STD's front.) It also depends on what you need the KY Jelly for if it is for dryness and you are using a condom my suggestion is to find the KY sub or get KY because it is a water based lubricant rather than an oil based one which would damage a condom (any type of oil damages condoms.)

astro-glide or if you are at home and your out and especially if you are using latex protection, don't use any petroleum products which causes the latex to break down
a lite vegetable oil like olive oil works especially well and does wash clean with soap and water

The best substitute is saliva. You don't want to use anything oil based if you are using a condom - it will cause the condom damage.

Dont ever use vaseline its not sanitory try baby oil its quite good, vaseline is not steril, remember its a petrol base.
