I saw this video where a cop was fightin this one dude in Boston and bystanders werent doing a thing when this cop was getting his azz kicked on the and struggling. Question is, would it be against the law to jump in and give him a hand? I would do so if i saw something like this, i dont like cops that much but hell, i like fighting and who knows what reward youd get right?

No it is not against the law to help a cop, but generally wouldn't advise it unless the cop asks for help as it might be more of a hindrance than anything. However, in the situation you mention, I would say that it would have been nice for someone to step in and help the cop, and I'm sure he would have much appreciated it.
(If you help and he happens to come across you later he may be inclined to be a little more lenient because of what you did).

I think any help would be appreciated in the circumstances where the cop was getting a proper thrashing, but you can only use reasonable force or you are opening a can of worms...especially if back up turn up and you get done for assualt or affray!

On second thoughts maybe calling the emergency services to help would be the safest option!?

I have had the experience of citizens help me in some tough situations. I don't care if it is against the law it was very much appreciated, and I doubt the cop you helped would charge you.

I use to be the kind of person that voted on laws to help cut crime and help law enforcement but while going through a divorce I learned how the cops and judges really are now I wouldn't help a cop or judge for nothing.
And to answer your your question about a reward, you most likely
would find yourself in jail for obstruction of justice.

No, it is NOT illegal to help a police officer, but you must use discretion in doing so, or you may wind up in trouble.
