Genes are quite complicated but there are such things are dominant and recessive genes. Dark genes (eyes, hair, skin) do tend to be dominant and light recessive.

A couple each give their child a gene each. So you might give a child genes for dark hair and eyes, your partner would give them genes for light hair and eyes. The dominant gene is then expressed - ie your children would have dark hair and eyes but still carry the gene for light hair and eyes. This would mean that if they had children with someone who looked like your partner they would have a fifty fifty chance of having blonde and blue eyed children. Similarly if you have any European blood in your make up even from generations ago you could have a chance of having blonde and blue eyed children because you might carry the gene unexpressed.

In reality it is a lot more subtle and complicated than that but this is more or less how it works for simple thinks. A monk called Mendelsohn (I think that is how it is spelled - I'm thinking back a long way to my school days) discovered it on pea plants. Try doing a search on that is you are interested.

I think dark features are usually dominant, but I am sure they will be gorgeous.

By the way it made me laugh because you sound like cats. Persian and ginger...very cute indeed!

It will be darker with dark eyes as the gene for melanin is dominant over the gene for less melanin- hence a child with blue eyes and red hair can only be born of parents sharing both non-dominant genes

not necessarily, i'm pure white and my husband is puerto-rican. our first son came out pure white like me, and the second darker like him. the funny thing is that we named our first son after him, when it turns out that our second son is his spitting image! lmao, oh well. good luck, i'm sure you'll have beautiful babies!
