We have two jars of peanut butter with the bar code 2111, one being almost empty because we made peanut butter cookies with it. Should we simply throw it away or should it be tested? We all have had flu like symptoms in the last several weeks, but the flu is going around. Any advice?

Usually the treatment for Salmonella is fluids. They don't even usually give antibiotics unless you are really sick. I would keep the jar for testing later in case you do. The best way to prove that your strain came from that is a stool culture from you and a culture from the jar growing the same bug.

Just bring them back to the store where you bought them. The store will take them back - even the almost empty one.
