It depends on what you're trying to teach: Passive acceptance and compliance or self-reliance and confidence.
I'm sure the Christians would want all women to be like Mary (especially the male leaders of the faith). They would want the barefoot, pregnant, illiterate "godly" woman, someone they can tell to shut up and go cook dinner, and slap around a little when they have a bad day at the church. The clue to this mentality comes from that paragon of virtue, and all-around good guy Jerry Falwell, who routinely calls NOW the "National Organization of Witches." Heaven forbid women should pick their own careers or (gasp) get involved in politics.

My pick would be Wonder Woman. And I wish we could send her to kick some televangelist's butts.

I love Wonder Woman. I would say there is no contest. Then again some Christians don't see the value of the emancipation of women and feel that the culturally boundaries were a good thing. I believe in feminism in this way; the right of every woman to be who she wants to be. Whether that is being a stay at home mom, a scientist, drag racer, etc...or Wonder Woman. I know there are challenges to raising a family and having a career but I think they can be dealt with through cooperation and careful planning. I always had so much respect for my mom being a social worker and she was a role model to me. I hope that I will be able to meld my career desires with parenthood the way she did. I don't think I suffered for her life choices.

The virgin Mary did not stay that way. She went on to become a wife and mother of other children. Mary was a very humble and a woman who found favour with God. Wonder Woman, was my favourite as a kid. However, while it may be good to be strong and assertive, I would rather find favour with God. Woman have had many cultural boundaries, but the ones who have to live under this oppression still are strong in their own ways. We woman are strong characters regardless of where we are placed.

Wonder Woman would be a role model, because she is a crime fighter. If young girls use Virgin Mary as a role model, there will be many more teen pregnancies.

I hope you never ask who will be a better role model for guys: Noah or Bill Clinton? Because most of the answers will be in favor of Bill.

The highest calling of a woman is to be a good mother to her children. Mary was this. Wonder Woman just flew around in a invisible plane and wore skimpy outfits.

Neither - how about a teacher, parent, etc? Why did you pick these two as role models - not good choices at all.

Neither one of these is a realistic role model.

I'd rather see young women look up to their teachers, their parents, or any other real, live person.

I would say that the virgin Mary is a wonder, woman. I wonder how she was able to convince Josheph that her conception was a visitation from God and not a run in with Pantheras, a roman soldier.
