Your I-Pod uses mpeg files to play music. Mpeg files are compressed digital representations of the music. in order to do this, the music must first be digitized (turned into numbers), filtered, and compressed.

In the process of reconstructing the music from the digital signal, an integral is performed on the music, called an inverse Z-transform. (you can Google "Z-transform" to get more info.)

Another example:
There are control systems all around (automobile cruise control, traffic lights, most any industrial application with an electric motor like elevators, and conveyor belts in factories). Some control systems use what are called "PID" controllers to control the motor speed. The "I" in "PID" stands for integral (as in it uses integrals to perform it's calculation (google "PID controller")
