Yes this is true. Only identical twins have the same DNA and fingerprints. If they are Paternal twins they are different. Identical twins share in everything beginning before birth. They share the same sac in the womb and originated as one egg that split in two giving them the exact same genes. Look at kinda like a clone of each other.

DNA would be the same I think but fingerprints are completely different!

A fingerprint expert explained to me that the marks on your fingers and toes are formed when you are in your mothers womb you have pad like tips on your fingers and toes and by moving about in the womb makes unique patterns called fingerprints.

My guru in all things, The Straight Dope, says the fingerprints are similar but NOT identical.

And here is a discussion of the difference between genotype and phenotype, which also shows why DNA is identical (except for post-division mutations).

Just thought you'd like some sources to verify the correct answers here.

DNA yes, the fingerprints would show slightly different but would have a high probability of hits much more so than yours or mine compared together.

No two people have the same fingerprints. Don't know about DNA - I guess it would be similar but don't know about exactly the same.

DNA is very close, but fingerprints, although they may be similar, ie: tented arches, whorls, and loops, each twin's is distinctly different.
