Silver is normal merel is a defect there are chihuahuas out there that are merel because somebody planted the gene in them most likely by crossing it with a dachshund. They carry lots of diseases.
Blue is pretty rare and can come out of any color parent

Sorry had to go back to the website and re read it.

This they classify as blue...http://www.lildaisy.com/images/chihuahua1.jpg

Chihuahuas come in all colors and combination of colors. Silver and blue are both recessive traits and are caused by a dilution factor present in the genes producing color. Not a miracle, but it's obvious both parents carry this recessive gene you're seeing expressed in this puppy. It's still a chihuahua, and you describe the color as silver (pale silvery grey) or blue (darker charcoal grey).

Yes, he will be fine. I too, have encountered a similar incident. My Chihuahua was running around when he bumped into me, then I accidentally stepped on his foot. He howled and limped off. Slowly afterwards, he started running around again as if nothing had happened. But, he was also licking his injured leg. I guess when dogs injure themselves, licking the injured area is a normal reaction. It's a way for them to heal. However, if it persists I would recommend taking it to the vet. Other than that, your dog should be fine.

congradulations. I would not call it anything. most dogs change color as they grow anyway.
