No, 9 hours isn't too much!! Seriously. My daughter is 11 and she requires about 10-11 hours of sleep a night to be able to get up good the next morning and function properly. Kids sleep habits are very important for their education!!

The textbook answer is 10-11 hours per night (I used to teach health in my elementary school). However, my experience with having children is that it really depends on the child. Our daughter needed 12 hours at that age, and our son is 11 and maybe gets 8 hours a night, and he's fine. Just like adults, our needs are different. Just notice your child's behavior when she gets a lot of sleep vs. little sleep and then make adjustments. Good luck!

Go with your child's choice I believe 8 hrs. is plenty of for a 10 yr. There may be days he or she maybe tired or sick and he may need more sleep. Just watch his sleeping pattern with him. Make it a project between you and your child. Keep a journal and record when he or she goes to bed and when he he or she awakes. It will make feel he or she feel special. Try it for about a month and then share the results with the teacher. The he or she will feel they have accomplished something good. Will help boost confidence and esteem. Have fun.

8 to 10 hours a night they need.Don't forget how active they r compared to n adult. They need the sleep for they run on energy all day long.Just think of it more time for yourself. It has never hurt a child having to much sleep but not enough will hinder there performance in school, sports etc...I hope that helps.Have a wonderful day.
