I do not think so. There is no 'they' that can 'end the war'.
The war is greater than the conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan. The war on terror will last well into our lifetimes like the Cold War did for the generations before. It is a war that will be fought on multi fronts using diplomatic, economic, and military prongs. The 3,000 that were killed in 9/11, the 3,000 some odd US soldiers, those killed in Lebanon, Israel, Bali, Madrid, London, etc... are all causalities of this war. There will be many more to come.
It is not a matter of finishing what we started; they started it. It is, however, a matter of destroying an enemy before they destroy us.

The war was over pretty fast in 2003. This is the occupation that is failing miserably.
They had a brief shot at success after the war was won. The neo con leadership blew it!
Iraqis are leaving in droves right now to avoid fighting in this civil war. We owe it to our soldiers to keep thier sacrifice meaninging ful. Leaving them over there to be target practice in another countries civil war doesn't do that.
A lot of these soldiers signed up to avenge 911. This occupation has nothing to do with 911!
The 911 highjackers were mostly Saudi. Saudi money is behind the Sunni insurgency. Iranian support is behind the Shiites. They are going to have thier bloodbath. Why keep our troops in harm's way?
Unless your teacher is ready to sign up and go over there any armchair quarterbacking about staying there to finish the job is meaningless!

There is no end to it. That is why it is called a quagmire and apparently we learned nothing from Viet Nam, your teacher included. It is easy for your teacher to sit in USA on her butt and let others fight and die. I think this war should never have been started. It is the epitome of foolishness by a totally incompetent president. He ruined 3 companies that he controlled and is well on his way to bringing destruction to the USA. And by the way, tell your teacher is she is so gung ho on the war, enlist. Put her on life on the line for her idealogy. It is easy to talk big, but if her principles are so strong, perhaps she might want to go fight too.

Yes we should end it. End it by using all of the weaponry and technology at our disposal. End it by fighting it as a real war and not a police/peace keeping mission. The only thing the Islamic culture understands and respects is superior force and we have been afraid to show it. In a way people like that protest the war are responsible for more of the deaths of American soldiers than the enemy is. Let our soldiers fight this war like a war and it will end sooner rather than later.

well the problem is Iran
you know something funny (and scarry)?
about the time we started hearing they were about to capture Saddam i made a list of things i was sure would happen.
1. We invade Iraq
2. we capture Saddam
3. insurgents and instability in iraq
4. population control problems
5. people riot against the war
6. The U.S. pulls out under not winning and unsupport
7. Vietnam 2
8. Iran invades.
scarry thing is that only 3 still remain and i think were near at least 2 of them.

Your teacher is a wise teacher! Let it never be said that Americans "cut and run" when the going gets tough.

I support your teacher,he is totally right.Bush started war and he must finish it.But the question is HOW?
I think the only option is to withdraw troops and leave Iraq for Iraqis and to compensate them for the destruction caused by invasion and occupation.

If we left now, we'd have more issues with Iraq later on. We need to stay and try to stabilize the country more before we leave.
