Go with Nutro, just my choice. I have tried both and Nutro is much netter than Royal Canine.....but they are both better that Beneful

I would pick the formula you would feed from each brand, then compare them to each other to determine which ingredients list looks better. Both are definately better than Beneful, but depending on which formula you want to feed, one might be better than the other. I would probably go with Royal Canin before Nutro, since Nutro made my dog poop a lot and the ingredients really aren't that great. Not sure if you know, but there are much higher quality foods out there. Wellness, Innova, Canidae, California Natural, to metion a few. I now have my dog on Wellness and am very happy. (and neither of these foods are 'premium' like another responder said)

keep in mind that you should actually rotate your dog foods especially choosing new protein sources. the AAFCO standards only test dog food for 6 months and do not look at the long-term health of dogs on a single food.
I'm not familiar with natural choice but i think nutro and royal canin are about the same. I'm not wild about a food that chooses a protein 'meal' which is dried and ground up and loses some quality in the process. I'm also not wild about the amount of grains in these foods.
I do like foods that start with real, whole ingredients like 'whitefish' 'trout' 'lamb'. not meal. Also, if a dog food says what it does not use, that's helpful too. Avoid foods with by-products, corn, wheat by products, soy, artificial colors, flavors or preservatives.
Try Timberwolf organics or Newman's own if you want even higher quality food. A good place to compare ingredients is www.petfooddirect.com

I use Nutro Natural Choice for our 2 large dogs. I Had previously used Pro Plan, but on a trip to Petsmart had asked the vet about the best foods. He said just try to stay away from fillers and byproducts. I read through a bunch of ingredient labels on dog food and chose Nutro Natural Choice. Plus you can register online to have coupons sent to you, those really come in handy with 2 large breed dogs!! I suggest just reading through labels. Good Luck!!

I have not heard of Royal Chain unless you meant Royal Canine? Royal Canine has breed specific dog foods. Either are alot better than Beneful. I would say, Nutro if you have a large breed dog and Royal if the dog is a small breed.

It really depends on your dog breed, their needs, activity level and age.

Nutro Natural Lamb & Rice was the best food we could find for out lab with allergy problems. His coat changed in just a few weeks and he lived a full life of 14 years.

I've never personally used Royal Canin, but have heard of good results, but I do believe it is high in fat, so if your dog is not active you may want to try something different.

I have Yorkies and use ProPlan for small breeds and it gives them great coats, shiny eyes and no weight issues.

The best thing you can do is read your labels, stay away from fillers and stick to the recommended feeding for your dog.

I'd say the Nutro. I actually feed a mix of Nutro Ultra and Authority. My puppy's coat is so soft and shiny, everybody can't beleive how great she looks. So give either a try, but I've had great results with Nutro.

I use Royal Canin Sensible Choice Natural Blend. It's a great food and all my dogs eat it. I have one that will only eat this food. My BIL used Nutro at one time and his dogs couldn't handle something in it. The Natural Blend has no corn, wheat or soy in it which is good for the dogs (I have one with a wheat allergy).

Try them both and see which the dog prefers.

Our choices for our cats were Science Diet and Nutro. They didn't like the Science Diet, but they loved Nutro Natural Choice.

So my advice? Go with the one the dog will eat!
