I fancy this good friend of mine who is also a work colleague, we often have lunch together with other common friends at work. There were two times in the past (when we were alone and outside of work) that he mentioned about unsuccessfully having chased other girls. I don't know whether he was testing me or what... anyhow, I responded like a good friend, and offered my advice and tried to help. The first instance I said, that's her loss, and offered my help if he wanted it. The second instance I thought of excuses for the second girl and explained the possible excuses, even though inside I was hurt :(

do you think I have given him the wrong idea? Would he take it as I only like him as a friend?

MissTQ: Yes I have asked him his type, and I know I fit the bill now but back when I asked him, it didn't fully fit me. He does also know my type, but not in detail.

How about next time he says he was unsuccessful at chasing girls tell him thats because you havent tried to chase me...throw it out there. Men are dense (sorry guys...) if you dont tell them in black and white that you are interested they will NEVER figure it out on their own.

You don't sound too experienced with getting guys. All you have to do is ask him to have lunch again, then talk a little more personal with him and flirt a little. This way, he will see the signs and if he still doesn't, just ask him if he would go out with someone like you (your type). If he says yes, then make your move.

You can never know how we guys are gonna take things. He sounds very shy and was probably trying to get a sign from you. You might have to press a little if you want to go out with him. Look him in the eye and let him know about the qualities you look for in a guy that you know he posesses.

If it were me I would have thought that you were offering the advice as a friend and nothing more.
If you like him, ask him, you have nothing to loose, other than him if you dont ask.
