If you didn't get sick enough to go to the doctor or hospital, what exactly are you suing for? I can see suing for reimbursement on medical bills. It sounds like you're just being greedy and opportunistic. Get a job.

I read where this lot was stocked as far back as May 06. I checked my jar because I was very sick in August 06 for about 5 days. But at the time I was going through some major stress of buying a house and I had quit smoking. I was eating celery sticks w/peanut butter to help with the hand fixtation from the smokes. Upon checking my jar it has that code on it. I had consumed about a fourth of a small jar. After I got sick I did not eat the celery peanut butter anymore. I was mainly sick of eating the celery and had moved on to other snacks. Really glad I moved on to other snacks now. But isn't this ironic: Suppose I would kept eating that jar.....Think about it. I would have been better off smoking!
I don't think you need to have hospital bills to prove that this product made you ill. All it would take is to have your product tested. Hang on to your product and do not sent in that lid if you plan on litigation.

I'm disgusted with the answers to this question.
So you all think that a huge company making food & millions does NOT need to be responsible when their product infects hundreds of people with an illness?
do you know salmonella comes from animals:rodents birds & reptiles are the usual carriers & the last time a peanut butter outbreak occured it was because of unsanitary conditions within the facility?
i do not think that compensation for suffering and illness for buying a food product is greedy.
i fear if there wasnt a financial backlash big companies would be even more lax.
there is no excuse for risking health because you buy peanut butter, spinach ,a burritos ,coffee , ect. ect.
do note that if infected it would produce symptoms within 12 to 72 hours not always immediately.
btw, you know how people always joke about the mcdonalds burn victim, does anyone realize this was an elderly woman who recieved third degree burns that required skin grafts!!!!!!! why the hell would you make coffee that hot?
sue happy ?????????what a spin zone!!!!!!!!!!!!
as for the posted question : i'd call the lawyer & ask his opinion, you can find the firm by doing a web search, good luck .

considering some jars of peanut butter have the correct number, in all reality no. simply because the peanut butter jars that actually contain salmonella are recent. the number on the peanut butter jar goes back as far as october of last year.
chances are most that contain the number on the jar are not affected by salmonella.
having flu like symptoms is not a guarantee that you were ill with food poisoning. you also didn't seek the advice of a doctor, hence, no actual proof.
also, food poisoning comes on with in a few hours, chances are it was just the flu, salmonella poisoning happens rapidly.
good luck

Heres my case: Purchased the bad Peanut Butter in July/August. I became very ill In August with diareeah for 4 weeks, dizzyness, head aches, ear aches, blurry vision, back pains, abnominal pains all over, dehidration, pain wen urinating, perfuse sweating.
I have ben eating this peanut butter off and on for the past 6 months. I have ben to many specialists trying to find out what is wrong. My symptoms come and go every couple weeks and I am relived to hear this news. My life has ben hell for the past 6 months due to Doctors not finding the illness. I have spent close to about $1500 with doctor visits ,tests ,medication, I have missed alot of work as well that adds up to about $1000.00. I actually though I had an Ilness that was uncurable for months, You can belive that my law suit will be different than most due to the repeated Salminela poisioning. I am not only looking for reembursment for my medical bills & lost working pay but I will be expecting something for my 6 months of Hell. I will keep you all informed. Some have stated the contaminated peanut butter dates back to October 06, well mine was purchased in late july early august, I have ate almost all of the jar except for about 1/8.

Yes if you can prove that it was the Peanut Butter....in order to do that, you should have went to the hospital so you have proof on paper that you all got sick and if they found you were all sick from the same thing then you could def. file a lawsuit... but you won't be able to do it unless you have proof that its really was the peanut butter.

What would you expect to recover if you did sue? Unless you had some major medical or permanent medical condition caused by the tainted peanut butter, you wouldn't recover much. A day or two of discomfort when you didn't even go see the doctor isn't work a whole heckuva lot in court. I would just be thankful that you didn't suffer any permanent or long lasting damage and let it go.

So, you didn't suffer any monetary loss from being ill? Proving you were actually poisoned would be tough because you never went to the doctor.
Tens of thousands of people consumed this peanut butter, but only a few hundred got sick. It doesn't effect everyone equally.
Why are we so sue-happy anyway?

"None of us went to the doctor or hospital, because we just thought it was the flu or something. My question is, can we still get involved with the lawsuits against the company?"
You would have a hard time proving your case without proof e.g. blood tests, etc.
Furthermore, unless you hava nut allergy (in which case, it was YOUR fault for eating it), I would expect the symptoms to be more along the lines of food poisoning (e.g. vomiting, upset tummy) and not flu symptoms.
