Crime and corruption is really getting me down... Some evenings my neighborhood sounds worse than a war zone! Can't sleep, wonder when a stray bullet may come crashing through my window!

Probably not. After everyone in the world told the whites there that they were awful, they turned over control to the black majority which then became exactly what they said they hated. There seems to be no effort there to have a multi racial society that can progress. The tribes in the countryside have no interest in the cities so they destroy them or elect people who will do it for them. I would not invest a dime in SA simply because you never know when the corrupt government will nationalize your investment and steal it the way they did the ranches. The ranches and farms provided income and work for thousands and were done in just to take the land from the whites who had developed it. It is a racist society and has not hit rock bottom yet. It was a once great nation that could have shifted power slowly and be the garden spot of Africa with education and prosperity for all. Life is cheap there now and violence is the norm and people are killed because they are not black enough, too black, not from this or that tribe or they are white who may be seventh generation South Africans but now are just called foreigners. Too bad. Wonder if this is what the reformers thought would be the end result. Its kind of like the US in that Martin Luther King was a giant of a man, a true leader but those who have come behind him are racemongers, and corrupters who have turned race into a business. Thats SA now too.

Unless something changes I see South Africa going the way of Zimbabwe in 15 years or so. "Nationalize" everything. Give the proceeds to friends of people in the government. Arrest members of opposing political parties. Allow crimes against people in the wrong class / political party / race. Etc.

You gotta have faith! As bad as it sounds, there are others worse off (dead & alive) than you. Just thank your lucky stars you're still alive and not living on the Cape Flats. Love the good things in SA, everything else will become obsolete.
