I keep having scenarios in my head from the past and am physically beating these people up like punching the air.

Is this stress or depression?

Thanks

Soz forgot to mention that at times I am swearing at the situation out loud.
Not shouting but in a normal voice. When people catch me I say I talking to myself

I would say it is Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). But I am not a doctor. For your info the criteria for PTSD can be found here...http://www.behavenet.com/capsules/disorders/ptsd.htm
Stress and Depression usually stem from present day, not the past. Also you are probably not schizophrenic either like some people suggested... schizophrenia is a mental disorder where the individual has delusions in their current existence and usually doesn't include delusions from past experiences; because from what you are saying these are visions from your actual past, not something you have made up in your mind, right? anyway, the criteria for scizophrenia is here...http://www.behavenet.com/capsules/disorders/schiz.htm
You need to see a mental health professional ASAP. You need to figure out what is going on before you harm yourself or someone else. PLEASE get some professional help.

Forget about the past. Start beating up people in the future. Get a punching bag and some psychiatric help.

Its sounds to me like stress or anxiety! The fact that you are aw-ere what you are doing is good! May be something in your life is annoying you or upsetting you? work? relationships? family? I would go and see your GP for help, advice and reassurance. It could even be a mild form of depression! Your doctor will understand and is used to dealing with all thoughts and worries from patients, there is nothing that will shock your doctor especialy when it comes to what goes on inside peoples heads!

oh my...physically punching the air acting like their the people you don't like. that's nuts. truth is it's probably neither stress or depression. but maybe just plain out anger. it sounds like you were severely deeply hurt, and if it's that bad, in all honestly, get counseling.

It's a symptom of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, and it doesn't matter what it is you are unhappy and should talk to a professional about it.

Be careful not to do this in a crowded subway.

You sound very angry at someone or something, they can both occur together stress and depression. talk to someone i think someone has hurt you and you need to talk about this with someone forgive and let go. to be able to move on.

Don't bother about what to call it. What to do about it is more important. Bach Flowers can help you. See http://floweressencesintro.onlinecourse.com/ and see how you can help yourself. It is a free, non-credit online course.

depression is self-inflicted, so we can just about rule that out...
as for the other, always keep this in mind, "ATTITUDE IS THE RESULT OF PERCEPTION". With that, you should keep your sanity a little while longer...
