I received nitrous oxide 1 time during my dental hygiene program, the day after and now 9 months after I have been having episoded of numbness and tingling, heart flutters and spasms, and headaches. Is it possible to get these after only 1 time of nitrous oxide.

Most likely not......N2O is more commonly used than ever, even in pre-hospital emergency care.N2O is a very short lived drug only lasting from 3 to 8 minutes per administer, this is why the mask must be held in place for a period of time for long term relief. It has little to no side effects if only used for short periods of time. The contraindications(do not use)are in COPD,hypoxic, pregnant, and hypotensive patients. From the symptoms you describe, you should consult with a M.D......Cardio and Nuerological issues are not something you want to wait on.

No, In small doses in a medical or dental setting, nitrous oxide is very safe, because the nitrous oxide is mixed with a sufficient amount of oxygen using a regulator valve.

Go see your doctor to see what else may be wrong.

No But what you do need is an immediate consult with a neurologist.

Contact your physician ASAP.
