I recently went on a course to study allergies and anaphalaxis.
There was an interesting discussion about people who are allergic to kiwi fruit having an increased chance of developing latex allergies. If you are allergic to kiwi's you may also develop sensitivities to Bananas, mango.avacado and tomato as they contain similar proteins.
If you do a search on the net for: kiwi/latex allergies you will get more info ( I try and create links and they never work)
The greater exposure an allergens the more severe the reaction becomes so take care and seek advice on allergy management from your Dr or practice nurse.

Yes! I am also allergic to Kiwi's and numerous other fruits and vegetables. It is called Oral Allergy Syndrome. You and your son should meet with a doctor to discuss it. In most cases it will never be life-threatening. (Thank god, we have enough worry with people worrying about allergies) but it is quite annoying and irritating.
Is he allergic to Birch Trees? You should see an allergist.
Hopefully he won't be allergic, it will save him so much frustration in life. I hate not being able to eat certain foods. :(

I am allergic to kiwi but only on contact. I do not get any allergies if I eat it, only if I peel it.
The more you are exposed to allergens that cause you severe allergy it is very probable that you develop a higher level of allergy to that allergen, by repeated exposure.
I would advise you to go with your son to a specialized doctor, they will perform some tests and check his levels.
Good luck.

I'm a nurse and I too am allergic to kiwi. Every time the person is exposed to what they are allergic to it gets worse, be aware.

I'm allergic to peaches and apples. My mum's allergic to all fruit and potatoes! It's so weird cos it's only a recent thing (past few years...). Don't know what it is! Maybe the pesticides or something?
