I am 32 and was told it would take 8 months.

Treatment time depends on the severity of your malocclusion (skewness of teeth). usually braces can stay from 14 months to 21/2 years. It also depends on how fast your bone adapts and your age (if you r younger then it moves faster). it can also depend on how well you wear you elastics as well. if you obey the orthys instructions, it will go faster.

I had braces on for about 4 years, but my top teeth were nearly a centimetre forward (yuk). He didn't bother about my bottom teeth, which look awful, they all overlap. If you've had teeth taken out then they could take a while, because the gap where the teeth have been removed from needs to be filled with the teeth that are being pulled back. If your dentist has told you 8 months, then I shouldn't imagine it'll be much longer. At least you have the benefit of all your wisdom teeth, which is a problem if you have braces during adolescence. My friend might need braces soon, because as her wisdom teeth have come through, they're gradually pushing her teeth out of place.

I wore braces for 20 months. My orthodontist said 20 - 24 months. I was 49 when I got braces. My braces have been off for 3 months.

Wow if yours is only 8 months..are you sure you really need braces.. that means that your teeth are pretty straight.. my teeth are crooked.. and my ortho said it would be a year and a half to two years.

2 years and my ortho told me two yrs. Trust me it's worth it. But wear yoru retainer if you need one.

i was 13 when i had braces i HATED THEM!! um they told me id have to keep them on for 2 years and i kept them on for 2 years and 4 days exactly but it varys depending on the person!

mine will take 2years and maybe more.I have cross-bite and crowding.
