If you are talking about a Microsoft product it (the taskbar) should be already at the edge of the screen usually at the bottom. It can be at the top or either side if the default setting was changed by someone.

Also if it not visible at all, move the mouse all the way to the bottom to see if the "auto hide" option was set. If it is in auto hide mode it should appear when you get the mouse right down to the bottom edge of the screen. Also try again to move the mouse to the extream sides or top of the screen to see if it is there.

To turn off auto hide, if and when the "taskbar" appears, click the right hand button on the mouse, select properties, and uncheck "auto hide taskbar".

If this doesn't work try using Ctrl Esc if this doesn't bring up the taskbar then your screen resolution needs adjustment.

If you're running WinXP it's possibly that explorer crashed and didn't restart itself.

Try pressing CTRL+ALT+DEL, clicking 'New Task' and typing in 'explorer.exe'

You would have dragged the task bar below. Or may be you have activated the hide option.
