Can I just say that your avitar looks like one of those police sketches they use to locate criminals.

No, it's not a waste of time. Just like anyone else God enjoys
conversation with His children (which what prayer really is).
He is concerned about those things which concerns us and will
help us if we ask Him for help. The second part of prayer is waiting for His answer. That is how prayer works. It is a dialogue,
not just giving God a list of our wishes and desires.

Avatard, I feel like you are confused with this question running in your mind. Well you must be aware that there are all kinds of people. Rich, Poor, middleclass.
Rich people are still greedy for more success
Poor people are greedy for money for daily expenses
MiddleClass are greedy for money for luxury and living both.
So still GOD knows, and he never forgets you, but he wants to see you how much you remember him. When a rich person is doomed, he probably remembers GOD, ask for his help. But what about the time, when he has everything that belongs to GOD, shouldn't he remember him that time, and thank him for what he has given?
So to answer your question, its simple HE KNOWS, HE IS ALL KNOWING, but he is judging you what respect you have for him. He remembers you all time, and wants you too to remember him all time. Make prayers, worship him.

Prayer is building relationship. God is our provider. He desires for us to partner with Him in everything in order to build a relationship with us. As we partner with Him, we can begin to see the supernatural manifested in the natural and He then becomes more evident to us
Great evidence of the sole reason man was created...for fellowship with God. Not a waste of time.

10 points to you for actually posting an appropritate question here!
I agree with you completely. Why all the need for outward showings of joy and rapture? Why all the physical "stand up - sit down - rah rah rah?"
I guess some people just need to let their "little light shine" more than others and associate human emotions with the sincerity and intensity of their prayers.
I'm assuming that your question is relevant to Matthew6: 5-8
Sound advice for any believer...

Great question! 10/10. Prayer is for you only, not for 'god'. Consider it talking to yourself. If there is a god he will understand anyway. If not then you are just organizing your priorities. Either way, it is the same with or without the superstitious mumbo-jumbo.
"i knew I was God when I was praying and I found that I was talking to myself!" Peter O'Toole in 'The Ruling Class'

It helps collect your thoughts. I was taught to pray in this order:
GIVE THANKS- for all you have been given
ASK FORGIVENESS- for things you have done wrong and are repentant about, for people you have hurt, and ask for the insight to know when you are doing something wrong
ASK FOR THINGS FOR OTHERS-
ASK FOR THINGS FOR YOURSELF- and for the wisdom to know if the things you think you want are really best for you.
Then, watch and listen for answers to your prayers, be prepared to accept the answers you get- they may not be what you are hoping for.

For me prayer is also a way to mediate and work things out in my head so I don't think it is a waste of time.

Well, there is no God for many people also... So it makes sense for us to pray since we need to bring out the best in us...

No it is not a waste of time! If you are too lazy to pray to our Lord then don't expect to be saved and don't expect to be taken with our Savior when the Judgement comes. God demands our respect and were supposed to worship Him.

No, its not. Your mom or brother might know very well that you are going through a hard time; oh well, they know it, so no need to call you and no need for you to ever talk to them about it, right? Nonsense.
Prayer is communication between a Father and a son (no gender intended).
