Do diet sodas (such as Diet Coke) contain any calories AT ALL? On the can it says zero calories, but websites like Calorie Count say that it contains a small amount of calories...which is correct?

As it is a diet soda...no calories, no sugar. But it is not a healthy drink, but then again...what is? Just don't go overboard with drinking soda and it's no big deal.

All foods contain calories. Even zero calorie drinks.

You might want to consider a few other aspects of diet or even regular sodas and do a little research as to what you are putting into your body.

First, diet drinks contain a substance called aspartame. The trade name is NutraSweet. Consumed in small quantities it has a small effect on the body. What aspartame does is effect the central nervous system, especially the brain. Siskel, of Siskel and Ebert, the movie critics died of brain cancer, the link to his cancer was the great amounts of diet coke and other diet drinks he drank. Aspartame is not good for you.

Next, all sodas contain carbonic acid and phosphoric acid. Carbonic acid is very corrosive and can neutralize minerals needed for body maintenance and growth. Phosphoric acid does leech calcium from the bones in your body.

In short, soft drinks, although approved by the FDA are harmful when consumed. My advice, drink water.

I don't understand why a calorie counter would say that diet products have calories, unless there is a small trace! These drinks are really suppose to be calorie free. I would call the manufactorer and comfirm this with them since they're the one who makes the product and should definetly know!

Essentially, they are no calories. Maybe some have 1 or 2 calories, but it's totally insignificant.

Nope, I drink diet coke all the time, they don't make me fat. Even if it did have calories, you will quickly burn them off just by walking.

I'm a nurse, no but it contains a lot of sugar in which can bloat you and make a person fat. Any soda isn't good for you at all.
