I find that I appreciate my home more after a trip overseas. Nothing like the comforts of home. Sounds crazy, I know! We go away to enjoy ourselves but I like coming back.

I'm on permanent holiday --- retired 20 years ago.

eifionref...: Isn't Cape Verde Islands where those 3 women tourists . . . . ?

Here is the US we call it vacation although I much prefer the word holiday as it sounds more fun and festive! I don't know who told you your information but I think the moment you go on vacation you are receiving the benefit of time off from your regular duties. The benefit of coming back from vacation are that you are rested and ready , hopefully, to jump back in to your duties with vim and vigor.
Me, though, I often feel I need a vacation after the vacation, because I've jammed so much into my vacation I'm pooped and feel like I need to rest before I go back to work!
Blessings

I find that it helps to have the day off after you get home from a vacation. So you can just relax and get things back in order to go back to work.

Only if I travel by myself. travelling with other people I find myself in the role of tour guide and organiser and trying to keep other people happy. Solo travel is great - you can eat when you want and spend hours shopping!
