The I Ching (divination) is believed to communicate to the Spirit of the 'Oracle', but I read that every book has a different spirit?

If the Oracle is just one Spirit how does she communicate with 1000s of people using the I Ching at the same time? What's your beliefs on the subject of spirits manifesting in objects and what's your beliefs on the Oracle?

dub_a_ licious: Ok, in general, do you believe Tarots or any form of Divination is explained by spirits or is it just your own energy.

I read tarot cards and I believe that there are patron spirits for particular methods of divination. I also believe that when using divination, you are also connecting with your higher self, which is part of the greater monad group of all that is....so in a sense, you are connecting to your higher self that is also connected to the patron guardian spirits because everything is one. Love your questions. Very thought provoking.

I suppose the best explanation I can give you is that it is connecting with a certain energy.. call it spirits, a certain wavelength, what have you... I don't believe spirits manifest themselves in objects. I believe your energy taps into that particular energy to receive a message.

I've not studied a lot on I-Ching personally.. I'm more of a tarot/runes type person. I'd not heard that each book has a different spirit. Do you have a resource you can post on this? Perhaps I can get a better understanding of where you're coming from then. Thanks for this question! it's very interesting.

Edit: ok I looked at his website.. he's into chaos magick, which is another form of ceremonial magick.. not really my cup of tea. I can now understand why he says that spirits manifest in objects. Thanks again.. this was an interesting subject.

If you are trying to wrap your head around this you should realize that the spirit you refer to, is not really a physical object or an organism.

The spirit world is in many ways the conceptual ancestor of the internet and modern telecommunications technology. What is possible through technology is largely similar to what were conceptually the properties and characteristics of denizens and phenomena of the spiritual realm. The ideas of communication at a distance, clairvoyance, telepresence, and even bi-location (being in two locations at the same time) were all spiritual capabilities long before they became part of daily life on the internet

With regard to spirits manifesting in objects - I think that's a bit like assuming that a symbol is the same as the actual thing. A policeman's badge is not his actual authority; it is only a symbol that -represents- the authority granted to him by society. even without his badge he still has that authority.

In a similar sense any given spirit might be "bound" to an object under certain special circumstances, but there is no need for a spirit to be bound in this way if it has no need to interact in the realm of physical existence.

You need to interact in the physical realm as a living human, consequently your spirit is bound to your physical body most of the time you are alive. After death and in some special circumstances the spirit is not bound to the body.

In the case of your question, the specific spirit is purported to be bound to a non-physical abstract oracular system. There is no reason to assume that it is therefore limited to the number of people it can interact with at a given time any more than your spirit is limited to interaction only in your physical presence. Can you not act at a distance through telephone?

You might view the idea as similar to the business concept of an agency which can be present in many locations and yet only represents a specific corporation like a bank or an airline.

Alternatively you can think of the oracular spirit to which you refer as not significantly different in manifestation from programs which run on your computer and which you are using to connect to internet resources. Consider that this is like recasting your question into a technological equivalent like 'How can thousands of people all use the same internet?'

Does this help?

I do not believe in the Oracle at all, it never held such belief with me and how I live my life. But being Pagan, what I find comforting spiritually is that everything on the Earth has the spirit of the Mother Goddess in it, from a tree and animals, down to the smallest grains of sand you find on the beach or desert.

Everything you touch and see communicates with you on a spsiritual level, putting faith in your heart and a feeling of tranquility in life.

I completely believe spirits can manefest in objects, tell you the future and give power to change things, bring things, and communicate. I belive God calls these spirits 'unclean spirits' or demons, in the bible. God also forbids the use of there majick. I was once a hardcore pagan, was a memeber of the midwest pagan counsile and even had a totem animal. When my husband shared Jesus with me, the totem and all the "spirits" I was in touch with became angry. They revealed to me that they were sent soley to keep me from God, by giving me pagan power. I will pray for you.

Who the hell is this Oracle? There is only one spirit and that is our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. All this witchcraft is the work of Satan and anyone who does this stuff is going to a very hot place.

I must be reading and studying different books, 'cause I've never come across these concepts, or else I've just skipped over them as they don't grab me. Sounds like reiki-type stuff.
