The speaker at the service, in accordance with the departed's and his/her family's wishes, will speak in tribute of the dead person without reference to god, heaven or any of the superstitious elements that attach to a theistic funeral. IT focuses on the individual person and how they have touched the lives of the people who loved them, rather than thanking god or anything else supernatural. Sometimes, if it is in a location usually used for religious funerals, religious iconography (crosses, etc) will be covered for the duration.

We only get to have one funeral, and as far as possible it should be as we want it to be.

It is a reflection on the life of the departed with no reference to a "higher power". It may or may not include some reference to life beyond this one.

It means theres no religion in it and so the dead person is going to hell anyway. I only go to proper Christian burials.
