If you have allurgy find out the allurgen.
Avoid fatty and sweet foods, cold drinks, milk and its' products, rice, suor fruits etc i. e. cough making foods.
Boiled/steamed/roasted pulses like horse gram, green vegitables and salads is the best food.
Have a glass of warm water early in the morning and vomit; cough will be eliminated and you will feel fresh.
Take some warm water, add a pinch of salt and suck this decoction in the blocked nostril; it will be freed.
Avoid allopathic medicines.

Go to the store and get some saline nasal rinse. You mix a packet of salt in water and irrigate the sinuses. This can prevent a sinus infection and clean out your sinuses.

my friend went to a therapist who used a special candle, they put it in your ear and light it, leave it for a set time then do the same on the other side, apparently it cleanses your sinuses and when the candles where removed, she said they'd gone a funny colour. She felt great after. Sounds a bit strange, but if it works?!?!

Menthol crystals in hot (but not boiling) water, towel over your head, good old steam! Just be careful not to overdo the crystals and shut your eyes!

Look for tablets with pseudoephredrine in them, eg. you can get Boots own brand. It can be associated with a painkiller. Have bought RhinAdvil in France, not sure if it's available in UK; that has 30mg pseudoephedrine + 200mg ibuprofen and works really well.

Has your doctor prescribed anything? Mine prescribed Zyrtec and Nasonex. I hate nasal sprays, I never use it. But whenever I get sick, I end up with a sinus infection. So, ask your doctor what you should do. Good luck.
