Arafel - it is not commonly used, but a very nice name...it means joyous.

Try this Social Security Administration web site - http://www.ssa.gov/OACT/babynames/
You can look up popular names by year (1880 to 2005). You can display up to the top 1000 names for boys and girls. People of all cultures from around the world live in America, so there's a lot of variety in names. Not only are there a vast number of names to choose from, but you can try and avoid the currently popular ones and choose something a little unique for this generation of children.
Please keep in mind that the kids will need a name to be proud of, that won't mark them as a freak, that sounds good with the middle name (if any) and the last name, and that's easy to understand how to spell. Finally, try and avoid names where the initials spell or suggest something odd, like where Rachel Olivia Thompson (ROT) may become "Rotten Rachel" in the schoolyard.

it seams like unusual is becoming the new trendy! Just try to pick names based on the meanings...what has a beautiful sound and meaning to YOU. A name for your child should be somewhat personal, don't let anyone's opinion change your point of view on this, seriously. (but don't embaress the kid either.)
